Specialist Timber Designer and Engineer Membership

This membership is for professionals and businesses who design structural timber projects and provide expert engineering support. STA membership gives you access to the latest technical guidance, networking opportunities, and industry insights, ensuring your designs meet the highest standards and are at the forefront of innovation.

Members can now take advantage of the new Designer Training Program, designed to enhance knowledge, keep up with industry best practice, and support professional development.

Through STA Assure, designers and engineers can self-declare their commitment to quality at bronze, silver, or gold levels. This includes a small audit fee and a verification check, allowing your business to demonstrate that your processes and designs consistently meet the highest industry standards.

Joining STA connects you to a community dedicated to excellence in structural timber design, providing the tools, knowledge, and recognition you need to grow your business while shaping the future of the sector.

Fees are based on the number of employees: up to 4 employees have a set fee, while for 5 or more employees, fees are calculated based on annual turnover

Employers Liability, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance If STA members have direct employees or use bona fide sub-contractors who are contracted to work for them or legally responsible for them – it is a legal requirement to have valid Employers Liability Insurance. It is a mandatory requirement for STA members to have Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance. If your company has this, please tick the box below and continue your application. All New Memberships are required to undergo a business management systems audit to complete the application process. In the interim all new members will be listed a provisional membership status interim completion of the audit. Audits are carried out by independent Business Management Systems consultants – The first of which will covered by STA. By applying you agree to the audit taking place and agree to cover the cost of all future annual audits.
