MAKAR is a leading designer and manufacturer of sustainable, precision-built homes in Scotland, recognised through the Structural Timber Association Gold Assure scheme.

Our closed panel system has been developed over more than 20 years and applied across 250+ projects, from private homes to affordable housing. Manufactured off site and assembled rapidly on location, it provides high levels of accuracy, cost certainty and minimal waste. A fully integrated design and manufacturing process, developed in partnership with 27 key suppliers, ensures consistent quality.

Sustainability is central to our approach. We use Scottish-grown timber, a renewable material that sequesters around one tonne of CO₂ per cubic metre. Short, local supply chains reduce transport emissions while supporting the wider Scottish economy. Our fabric-first methodology is specifically tailored to off-site construction.

Our wall and roof panels are naturally insulated to create breathable, airtight building envelopes. Dense, blown Warmcel insulation enhances thermal performance and contributes to fire resistance. Careful detailing helps prevent damp and mould, supporting long-term durability.

Designed for the Scottish climate, MAKAR homes incorporate efficient heating systems that deliver consistent comfort with low running costs. Performance monitoring demonstrates low energy use in occupation.
