Kirkwood Timber Frame Ltd

Based in Scotland, Kirkwood Timber Frame has over 30 years’ experience delivering precision engineered timber frame structures. Truly innovative and specialists in the supply and construction of sustainable high performing state of the art open and closed panel timber frames. As the ‘trusted timber frame partner’ we can tailor to suit our clients needs as well as provide expert support and solutions.

Clients range from independent self builds, to large- and small-scale developers in both the public and private sectors within the UK.

Adaptability and efficiency

We have invested upwards of £3m in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment into our factory facility to coincide with the launch of FastBuild, our modern manufacturing build system.

FastBuild utilises innovative technology and precision engineering, to offer customers complete design flexibility.

As well as the capability to create panels up to 12 metres in length, FastBuild delivers a fully insulated closed panel system. This is both airtight and thermally efficient (so enhances eco credentials), provides high performance, certified fire-retardant properties and can speed up the build process by up to eight weeks, compared to traditional construction methods.

Panels are supplied with service cavities pre-fitted for convenience and having windows factory fitted – which can again reduce working hours on site for the customer – is also an option. We can also provide floor and roof cassettes and internal finishings including staircases.

Sustainability

All our timber is sourced from sustainably managed forests and from suppliers which all hold either or both FSC (Forest Stewardship Council UK) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification – which ensures environments are responsibly and sustainably managed.

Using modern machinery, our factory waste is kept to a minimum, but any offcuts are fed into our on-site biomass system – generating heating for our offices and factory.

Our environmental policy states that: ‘Environmental protection shall cover all our company activities’ and as business – as well as continually monitoring and enhancing our environmental performance – we strive to far exceed the minimum requirements of law.

Environmental credentials of our product
It is widely accepted that the increased use of timber in construction, will be a key driver in reducing the environmental impacts of the industry.

Ahead of this necessary and inevitable evolution, we have invested in our people, processes and technologies and can deliver innovative solutions that not only save our customers time and money but will actively support in the attainment of new environmental targets – as the legislation changes.

Created from sustainably sourced timber, precision engineered to reduce waste and boasting excellent thermal efficiency – reducing the energy consumption of the completed homes – our closed panel FastBuild products deliver a range of benefits. Over the lifetime of a timber frame home, net energy consumption will be approximately 25% lower than a standard brick build property.

Offsite engineering reduces cost, waste and helps developers achieve higher PMVs (Pre-Manufactured Value) as build programmes can be completed more quickly – resulting in a faster return on investment.
