Associate Membership

The STA offers Free-of-Charge (FOC) Associate Membership for local authorities, housing associations, government bodies, universities, colleges, and students. This membership reflects our commitment to growing knowledge, education, and understanding of structural timber across the sector.

Associate Members receive full access to STA’s technical guidance, education resources, supporting learning and professional development. Membership is granted for one year, after which it must be reapplied for. This ensures that we can continue to offer this valuable support to a wide range of organisations and individuals.

By offering Associate Membership, STA helps the next generation of professionals and decision-makers engage with timber construction, build confidence in best practice, and access the tools and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality projects.

Employers Liability, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance If STA members have direct employees or use bona fide sub-contractors who are contracted to work for them or legally responsible for them – it is a legal requirement to have valid Employers Liability Insurance. It is a mandatory requirement for STA members to have Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance. If your company has this, please tick the box below and continue your application. All New Memberships are required to undergo a business management systems audit to complete the application process. In the interim all new members will be listed a provisional membership status interim completion of the audit. Audits are carried out by independent Business Management Systems consultants – The first of which will covered by STA. By applying you agree to the audit taking place and agree to cover the cost of all future annual audits.
