About Us

As building offsite solutions in timber are gaining traction across the industry, the STA's mission is to enhance quality and drive product innovation through technical guidance and research, underpinned by a members' quality standard assessment - STA Assure. This scheme offers reassurances to the construction community that our members meet or even exceed current legislation and regulatory requirements.

Our STA Assure Membership and Quality Standards Scheme is recognised by seven of the industry's leading structural warranty and building control bodies - LABC Warranty, Premier Guarantee, Protek Warranty, Build-Zone, Self-Build Zone, ABC+ Warranty and CRL. By offering reassurances to the construction community that our members meet or even exceed current legislation and regulatory requirements – this assessment has been developed to benefit both our members and construction clients. In addition, we enforce the industry leading initiative, Site Safe and provide all our members with access to the very latest Health and Safety training.

Along with quality and safety, the STA's core objective is to be a leading provider of technical research and industry insight. Our Technical Committee work closely with the HSE, TRADA and BRE to ensure our members have technical insight and industry intelligence to enable them to compete against other methods of construction.

The STA is experiencing exceptional growth in our membership, as more companies realise the power of being part of an association which provides the industry with an authoritative and united voice, which can influence legislation and regulation to support the overall objectives of the engineered and structural timber sector.

It is vitally important that our Association is not just the voice of sustainable construction, but that the STA logo itself represents the best quality standards. In that way, you can be assured that by using a STA member, you will benefit from delivery of the highest standards of technical excellence and safety on site. From the outset, we make sure that our members operate in the correct manner. We have strict criteria about who can join, and we audit our members to ensure that they are delivering industry best practice.

The timber industry believes that it can make a significant contribution to sustainable construction for sustainable communities. Timber, as a construction material, has a significant role to play in helping to protect the local and global environment. The STA positively supports sustainable construction and encourages members to follow the Code of Conduct.
