SmartPly Oriented Strand Board (OSB) is the smart, cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to many plywood’s. It is suitable for use in structural and non- structural applications. It comes with unrivalled quality and environmental certification.

It is manufactured from a locally – grown sustainable forest resource in an energy efficient process, and therefore has a lower carbon footprint than many types of plywood, making SmartPly one of the most environmentally efficient building materials on the market. It is the Smart OSB answer to plywood.

SmartPly OSB is manufactured by compressing precisely engineered strands of wood with exterior resins at high temperature to create an incredibly strong and versatile panel. SmartPly is made from sustainable, fast – growing timber, as we only use forest thinnings of new – growth pine and spruce, including the tops which are not used to make any other wood- based product. This is one of the main reasons why SmartPly is increasingly being used instead of plywood, which by contrast uses large logs cut from old growth forests.

There are two grades of SmartPly, each made with a different exterior glue and suitable for many general uses.

SmartPly has no structural defects, such as knotholes and core voids, and is easy to work with. It cuts easily, will not delaminate, and can be bored, routed and planed with consistent results.

Panels can be nailed 10mm from the edge without splitting or breaking out – critical to structural applications.

SmartPly uses far less energy and resources to make than steel, concrete and other building materials. Over 75% of the energy we use in the manufacturing process comes from wood residues and recovered wood. Burning wood by-products as an energy source instead of fossil fuels increases the CO2 benefit still further.

SmartPly OSB3 structural panel products meet the criteria of today’s demanding construction standards.

Manufactured to European Standard EN 300, they satisfy BS5268 Part 2 (Structural use of Timber – Code of practice for permissible stress design, materials and workmanship).

SmartPly products are also approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). At least 70% of the timber used in the manufacture of SmartPly products comes from well-managed forests independently certified according to the rules of your country:

UK – SmartPly OSB3 panels are also fully approved by the British Board of Agreement (BBA) Certificate No. 98/3488/C, Local Authority Building Inspectors and the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Ireland – SmartPly OSB3 panels are also fully approved by the Irish Agrément Board (IAB) Certificate No. 02/0093 and Homebond.

Europe – The SmartPly range of engineered wood-panels is manufactured to European Standard EN 300. SmartPly OSB3 panels are also fully approved by KOMO (Certificate No. 32685/97), VTT (C64/99), ETA (MK5.40/1401) and Byggforsk (Nr.2148).
